Project Description: Truck and Bus Rule Compliance, and Reporting System (TRUCRS)
Location: Southern California
Agency: California Air Resources Board (CARB)
Date: December 2018
Summary:
A construction contractor owned a fleet of diesel vehicles that had been entered into the TRUCRS reporting website. The contractor was not able to print an annual Certificate of Compliance from the TRUCRS website due to a small group of vehicles that CARB deemed non-compliant. Individuals, private companies, and Federal agencies that own diesel vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) greater than 14,000 lbs. are impacted by CARB’s Truck and Bus regulation. The TRUCRS website determines compliance without detailing any problem areas. For many fleet owners, reporting within the TRUCRS website can be a confusing task, as well as understanding exactly what CARB is requiring. TES, Inc. worked with the client and directly with CARB to recover and provide documentation that demonstrated that the vehicles in question were eligible to fall under a flexibility option. CARB dropped the violation for one of the vehicles in question and TES, Inc. continues to work with the client and CARB to resolve the compliance status for any remaining fleet vehicles.
